This detailed diagram depicts an anaerobic digestion system enclosed in a sealed steel bioreactor tank designed to process organic waste into biogas and fertilizers. Organic waste is fed through a hopper, pre-treated, and pumped into the insulated digester where microbes break down the waste through four phases: hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis, and methanogenesis. The process produces biogas (methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide) which is cleaned, stored, and used to generate electricity and heat via a combined heat and power engine.
